Quit the installation and manually uninstall MemoryLifter completely through Windows "Control Panel" -> Add/Remove programs.

In MemoryLifter 2.0 and 2.1 Learning Modules were saved as odx-files and all media files were saved in an extra folder. If you wanted to save a backup file with all your media files included, you had to "pack" it and save it in the dzp-format.

With MemoryLifter 2.2 you can open these old formats by dragging them on the start page "My Learning Modules". They will then be converted to the new mlm-format.

Cards are promoted to Box 2, if answers are correct. Otherwise they will remain in Box 1.

When the Pool is empty, the 1st (oldest) card in the highest box will be moved back to Box 1 for continuous learning purpose, like a loop. Otherwise cards in high boxes will be asked more than once if they have wrong answers.

For example, all cards are moved to Box 8 and 9 and one card is now demoted back to Box 1 due to wrong answer. Then the card in Box 1 will be asked again from Box 1, Box 2, Box 3…. And this can be eliminated with the move back when Pool is empty.

The "Snooze" option is an automated learning planner, which will regularly quiz you to help remember the information faster and longer. It is like an alarm clock for learning. If you are busy and want to pause learning, you can click the "Snooze" button and MemoryLifter will go away for a specific amount of time (default is 55 minutes) and then popup to let you learn again. You can always continue your learning before the expired time by double-clicking the MemoryLifter icon in the system tray (lower right hand-side of the screen).

MemoryLifter supports most languages through the facilities built into Windows.

Character Input

Characters in other fonts can be entered with the help of the Character Map that is located in the Accessories Menu of Windows (most versions if installed). This allows the selection of any extended character even if the keyboard is not remapped to that language. This is probably the easiest way to enter foreign texts that read from left to right and that do not require Unicode fonts in Windows.

Keyboard Selection (Language)

The various versions of Windows support Keyboard Language selection in different ways. Windows 2000 and Windows XP are the easiest to change through the Regional and Language Options Control Applet. Please refer to the Microsoft website for more information on Keyboard mapping.

It seems you are in the "Correct on the fly" mode, which only allows you to type in the correct characters. This ensures that you don't get used to a wrong spelling of the word. To change the option, on the "Learn" menu, click "Learning Options...", and in the "Typing" tab, clear the "Correct on the fly" check box.

This feature is also influenced by the case sensitivity setting, as well as the typing mistakes.

Most likely, the card you are learning has multiple answers/translations.

This is indicated by a note in brackets saying how many synonyms are given as right answers for this question.

Depending on the input mode, the program will automatically advance to the next synonym as soon as you typed the first, or you have to press CTRL + ENTER to enter the next synonym.

Grading of synonyms (that is, how many you have to know) can be adjusted in the "Synonyms" tab of the "Learning Options..." dialog box.

On the "Learn" menu, click "Learning Options...", select the "Typing" tab, and enter the punctuations marks that you would like to be removed before/after each word.

Press the CTRL + ENTER keys at the same time or just press ENTER.

Copy & paste is allowed when adding or editing cards but it's our design not to allow copy & paste when answering questions for learning purpose. We have options like "Correct on the fly" or "Self assessment" which also help answering questions in the typing area.

As with the new file format mlm of MemoryLifter 2.2 all data is stored in one file, no additional media files or folders are required. Just pass the mlm file on to other persons.

Open a Learning Module and click "Create Backup" on the "File" menu to save the Learning Module under a different name.

No. MemoryLifter automatically saves all changes made.

To simplify the handling of the program, we decided to save automatically instead of including a "Save" button. Whenever you change something in the Learning Module file and close a window, MemoryLifter will automatically save your changes.

Learning Modules are stored in the default folder (based on Windows standard) under the "My Documents\MLDictionaries" folder (in MemoryLifter 2.0) and under the "My Documents\LearningModules" folder (in MemoryLifter 2.1) .
You can change this by selecting "Tools", "Specify dictionary / Learning Module folder".

Click "Print" on the "File" menu and select the cards you want to print.
